Liberal activists still blame Mehlman for some of the GOP’s most anti-gay strategies, but gay Republicans criticize them for failing to ‘walk the talk’ of inclusion

Both Executive Director of NSD, Michael Mitchell and Erin Moore, President of Stonewall Democrats of Dallas comment on Ken Mehlman's coming out last week in this week's print edition of the Dallas Voice.  

Michael Mitchell said that in his work with the GOP and the Bush Campaign, Mehlman "spent a lot of time putting a stamp of approval on some really heinous policies, on pushing ways of thinking that have changed the way people treat LGBT people." 

Mitchell also noted, as have other liberal activists, that Mehlman has continued to donate to candidates and officeholders who are stridently anti-gay.
