HUD Proposes New Rule to Ensure Equal Access to Housing Regardless of Sexual Orientation or Gender Identity

The US Dept. of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has proposed a new rule to ensure their housing programs are open to all Americans regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. HUD is seeking public comment on the new rule, which will be published on Monday, January 24th. The public comment period will close the following day, Tuesday, January 25th.

Honoring the Life and Work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Today we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on this 25th anniversary of the creation of this day as a Federal holiday.

We observe this day as a memorial to a transformational leader, but we also remember all people who have felt the sting of discrimination because of the color of their skin, the accent with which they speak, where they were born, where they worship, or even who they love.

Working together, Nevadans secure big changes

Derek Washington, President of the Southern Nevada Stonewall Democrats discusses Stonewall's work on the ground in Nevada on the DREAM Act and Don't Ask, Don't Tell. 

"We treated this as a battle," said Washington, who was among the first to ask for help from Latino activists. "People kept telling me we couldn't do this, we couldn't form this larger coalition. But that's the worst thing to say to me. If you try to tell me I can't do something, I'm gonna prove your ass wrong."

Sen. Ensign to support ‘Don’t Ask’ repeal: source

Las Vegas Stonewall Democratic club worked to locally to get support of Senators to help repeal "Don't ask, Don't tell."  Chris Johnson, from the Washington Blade reports that the affiliate was able to secure Senator John Ensign as an affirmative vote to the National Defense Authorization Act.
