Rutgers student’s suicide prompts Las Vegas anti-bullying rally

Derek Washington, the Chairman of the Stonewall Democratic Club of Southern Nevada helped organize a Bully-free Zone in Las Vegas, reports the Las Vegas Sun.  “I couldn’t go to sleep the night Tyler Clementi died,” Washington said. “When I woke up in the morning, I immediately said, ‘I gotta do something,’ and started putting this together.”

Stein Club president rebukes the Washington Post

Jeffrey Richardson, president of the Gertrude Stein Democratic Club a National Stonewall Democrats affiliate, is criticizing the Washington Post’s editorial board for its endorsement of Delano Hunter in the Ward 5 Council race.

Mehlman’s out, but will the LGBT community forgive him his past?

Both Executive Director of NSD, Michael Mitchell and Erin Moore, President of Stonewall Democrats of Dallas comment on Ken Mehlman's coming out last week in this week's print edition of the Dallas Voice.  

Michael Mitchell said that in his work with the GOP and the Bush Campaign, Mehlman "spent a lot of time putting a stamp of approval on some really heinous policies, on pushing ways of thinking that have changed the way people treat LGBT people." 

Mitchell also noted, as have other liberal activists, that Mehlman has continued to donate to candidates and officeholders who are stridently anti-gay.  

 

Tea Party focus doesn't include LGBT issues
