National Stonewall Democrats Executive Director, Michael Mitchell, released this statement of congratulations to ElectEquality candidate Rep. Tim Bishop (NY-1):

“National Stonewall Democrats congratulate Rep. Tim Bishop on his hard-fought win in New York’s 1st Congressional District.  We were honored to have Tim as one of our ElectEquality candidates and we’re thrilled that he was successful in his election, not only for his constituents on eastern Long Island, but also for the LGBT community around the country who benefits from having his pro-equality voice in Congress.

"I truly appreciate the support I received from NSD PAC's ElectEquality program this year," said Rep. Tim Bishop.  "I pledge to continue fighting for civil rights for all Americans and progressive, pro-equality policies in the 112th Congress."

“We welcome Tim back to the 112th Congress where we know the terrain is a going to be a lot tougher for the LGBT community for a couple of years. We need more progressive, pro-equality fighters like Tim Bishop in Washington – we’re happy he’s there fighting for us,” Mitchell continued.
