Anyone in Pennsylvania is lucky to have Senator Bob Casey as their Senator. Senator Casey is actually one of the people who introduced the Safe Schools Improvement Act in the Senate, which means he helped write the bill, and he is solidly in support of protecting all kids, including LGBT kids. Take Action and let him know you thank him for his support of the SSIA. He needs to be able to prove his constituents are behind his efforts and your letters and phone calls of thanks can do that.

But he needs something else also. Senator Casey has been locked in a fight with Focus on the Family over his introduction of the Safe Schools Improvement Act. They have decided to target him and this legislation, which will protect all kids (not just LGBT kids) from bullying and harassment in school.

If you want to know what anti-gay groups are saying, go to www.abcnews.go.com and type in "anti bullying programs" in the search engine to find an article on what Focus on the Family is saying about this important bill and how they are fighting it.

Senator Casey wrote an op-ed for the Huffington Post denouncing this misinformation campaign by anti-gay groups.

This issue has attracted national attention from leading media outlets, and Senator Casey needs people to stand with him. Please use your connections and your computer to respond to this misinformation campaign. We need Letters to the Editor to be written to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and also the Tribune Review as well as any other newspapers in Pennsylvania if you live elsewhere. These letters will help to push back against the misinformation campaign and will prove support for Senator Casey. He needs us to show we have his back.

If you would like more information on how to write a letter to the editor for a newspaper, or would like more talking points about the SSIA so you can write an excellent letter, please contact me at president@steel-city.org.
