Tom is running in Allegheny County Council, District 1 which includes the comunities of: Aleppo, Avalon, Bellevue, Ben Avon, Ben Avon Heights, Coraopolis, Crecent, Edgeworth, Kilbuck, Leet, Leetsdale, Moon, Ross, Sewickley, & West View

Tom teaches German at Northgate High School.   He served on the Avalon Planning Commission and was instrumental in writing the Joint Comprehensive Plan for Avalon, Ben Avon and Bellevue.  He was elected to Avalon Council in 2005 where he has fought to control spending, acquire grants, repair infrastructure, and improve local services.  He has also served as Chair of The Avalon Democratic Committee.

Tom was outspoken in support of the recently passed Allegheny County Human Relations Ordinance, while his opponent, incumbent Republican Matt Drozd, was outspoken against it.  The ordinance passed by one vote, showing how one Council member has the potential make a huge difference in County-wide decisions.

Drozd won the last election in 2005 by just 43 votes, and the possibility of ousting him this November is well within our reach, but we need your help.

Tom is a true friend of the GLBT Community and received the “Strongly Endorsed” rating from the Steel City Stonewall Democrats.
