My People: A Film Series in Color

November 10-28, 2009

Starting Tuesday, November 10 KST presents a four part film series highlighting the lives and experiences of queer people of color in the U.S. A diverse selection of award-winning documentary films are paired with performances by Deryck Tines and One Voice Choir, The Legendary House of Infiniti, and Dreams of Hope. A panel discussion ends each night as we explore categories of identity, faith, health and body, and activism. Events start at 7PM. Steel-City Stonewall Democrats will be included on the panel after the November 24 film.

On Saturday, November 28 we celebrate the birthday of Pittsburgh Jazz legend, Billy Strayhorn. Suite Life: A Billy Strayhorn Birthday Bash begins at 8PM with the music of Strayhorn as performed by local musicians.

Join us as we navigate the relationship between queer communities and broader Pittsburgh, and celebrate a star we all claim.
