Around Thanksgiving, Stonewall Democrats realized that despite setbacks, LGBT Americans have a lot to be thankful for this year.

The first pro-equality piece of legislation, the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act passed both Houses of Congress and was signed into law by President Obama in October. And bills have been introduced to repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and The Defense of Marriage Act, and to expand employment, immigration, and adoption benefits for LGBT people and their families.

In the spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday, Stonewall Democrats launched a thank-you card addressed to the Members of Congress who have done the most for LGBT equality this year. (If you haven't signed it, you still can by clicking here.)

Nearly 1,000 people signed on to that card.

After the holiday, we went to the Hill to deliver it.

Check out photos from that visit -- and our meetings with Democratic pro-equality Representative Jared Polis, Sponsor of the ending Health Disparities for LGBT Americans Act and the Respect of Marriage Act; Representative Patrick Murphy, Sponsor of the Military Readiness Enhancement Act; Representative Pete Stark, Sponsor of the Every Child Deserves a Family Act; and Representative Mike Honda, Sponsor of the Reuniting Families Act.
