But, Dahling!

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is on the defensive after endorsing, and becoming bosom buddies, with an anti-gay Republican activist who is running for Mayor of Cincinnati. Charles Windburn spearheaded the campaign to keep the city from enacting any employment protections for gay citizens. The campaign failed, but Winburn keeps on trucking.

With an eye on the White House, Giuliani continues to be pulled to the right - declaring that he and Winburn share similar values. Winburn, who was a Cincinatti Councilmember before being named by Ohio's indicted Republican Governor to the state commission on civil rights, once wrote that "only born-again believers" should be elected to public office. When Winburn first ran for city council, he ran on a platform whose central theme was allowing employers to fire gay workers.

Winburn, like Don Quixote, continues to lunge at phantom threats that don't exist. As a former city council member, Winburn continues to battle same-sex marriage before the council - although no such matter has ever been brought before the body.

"I am absolutely opposed to same-sex marriages and will fight any type of legislation at City Hall or in the State. City Council better not even think about bringing this issue of same-sex marriages before Council. There will be one half of a million people marching at City Hall opposing this immoral legislation." - Charles Winburn
