I Shot a Man in Reno...

There's little constructive commentary that we can offer regarding the Vice President's recent outlaw antics in the South of Texas. Even the newscasters are stunned.
James Brady, former Press Secretary to President Reagan and champion of the Brady Bill, offered the best tongue-in-cheek commentary. "Now I understand why Dick Cheney keeps asking me to go hunting with him," said Jim Brady. "I had a friend once who accidentally shot pellets into his dog - and I thought he was an idiot."
It is interesting how the Vice President's office kept a lid on the situation for 24-hours until a reporter in Corpus Christie broke the story and pressed them for a comment. Its hard to buy the spin from the VP's office that places the blame on the victim. I come from a family of sportsmen, and I can't recall such a protocol that the Vice President is claiming. Its perhaps more difficult to accept the spin that the Vice President's office didn't say anything out of respect for the property owner's rights, claiming she had dibbs to break the story if she wanted to. I think it would be more respectful to admit that you shot a man than it is to cover it up.
